Training Security Guarding  & Door Supervision

The Level 2 Award in Security Guarding qualification enables delegates to apply for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) Security Guarding licence.
The course provides delegates with an excellent understanding of security issues to meet the increasing demand for well-trained operatives in the UK security industry.

Who should attend?

Upon completion of the course and once delegates have received their SIA Security Guarding license, they may work in the following roles:
Door Supervisors who wish to apply for the SIA license
Any security personnel seeking further skills and qualifications in the role of a door supervisor
Any outside agency interested in gaining knowledge about the role of a door supervisor

Training is delivered in two parts as follows:

Unit 1 – Role and Responsibilities of a Security Guard (2 days)

This includes the responsibilities of security officers, customer care, social skills, fire safety, health and safety, dealing with incidents and emergencies, civil and criminal law, control of keys and equipment, assignment instructions and reporting.

Course Outcomes

On completion of this course, candidates will have achieved the required level of knowledge and understanding in Roles & Responsibilities, and will be awarded a certificate from Highfield Qualifications, which is one of the consortiums recognised by the SIA.

Unit 2 – Communication Skills and Conflict Management (2 days)

This includes candidates managing conflict by applying a practical approach to risk, the importance of self-awareness, acting proactively, teamwork strategies, methods to resolve conflict and learning from conflict.

Course Outcomes

On completion of this course, candidates will have achieved the required the required level of knowledge and understanding in conflict management and they will be presented with a certificate from Highfield Qualifications which one of the consortiums recognised by the SIA.

CCTV

CCTV Control Room Principles

SIA Licensing of CCTV (PSS) Operators Formal Training and Assessment
We offer this two part training programme for operators who require the formal CCTV (PSS) qualification. Successful completion of Units 1 and 2 including the associated assessments will provide you with a BTEC Level 2 Award and the opportunity to apply for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licence.
On this part of the course you will learn the duties and responsibilities of today’s professional Control Room Operator. Our specialist training will ensure that you are able to deal with incidents in an efficient and competent manner.
Units 1 and 2 may be taken consecutively or separately.

• Awareness and overview of closed circuit television
• Codes of Practice and procedures. British and European Standards
• Communications. Safety of the control room. Access control
• Surveillance and audit trail procedures
• Documentation of control room manuals
• Incidents and occurrences. Log book entries. Vital documentation
• Report writing and descriptions. Reacting to emergencies
• Teamwork – safety of operators and their families
• Tape and data management – best practice
• Law and legal issues. Criminal offences. Data Protection Act 1998
• Confidentiality, accountability and privacy
• Evidence and the Law in relation to video recordings
• Statement writing. Communication skills. Telephone techniques
• Bombs and dangerous materials
• Health and Safety, Fire and Emergency

Course Duration: 4 Days

BTEC Registration and Certification Available
Delegates who successfully complete Unit 1 and Unit 2 will be issued with BTEC Certificate which is needed when applying for a SIA Licence

Unit 2 (Course CRO 2)

CCTV Control Room Practices
On this part of the course you will learn the practical and observational skills required in the CCTV Control Room. These include the recognition and interpretation of human body language, patterns of behaviour and incident risk activities.
Units 1 and 2 may be taken consecutively of separately.
